MBA of Alabama Scholarship Opportunities
Established January 2003
In January 2003, the Mortgage Bankers Association of Alabama, Inc. (hereafter known as MBA of Alabama) established a scholarship program to recognize and provide financial assistance to outstanding Alabama students and to promote the benefits and purpose of the MBA of Alabama.
The scholarship(s) are designed for students whose studies are directed towards the mortgage banking or mortgage-financing field (i.e.: finance, real estate, banking, accounting or economics). The funding of the scholarship program is provided from the MBA of Alabama operation revenues.
The president appoints the scholarship committee, which consists of eight MBA of Alabama members. The committee reviews the applicants and presents the award recommendations to the board for a final selection. The first scholarship committee was appointed for two years and led by Mr. Al Hethcox. The first scholarship team consisted of: Mr. Don Ellis, Mr. Mike O’Connor, Ms. Barbara Brown, Ms Holly Mattson, Mr. Kelly Johnson, Mr. Mike Newton, Mr. David Mays and Mr. John Andrews.
